Entry 2: yourself as a writer

I have always found writing to be long and stressful. When i was younger i can remember the writings always being stories. Teachers would always assign us to make up fictional stories and then encourage us to put them in the schools writing contests. Then as i got older, papers started becoming harder. In high school is when i began doing research papers and that i when i started to hate writing papers.
Now a days i can do all kinds of writings. This is my second semester of English at ICC and i think this semester is going to be extremely different than the first class. the first semester was strictly just paper writing. That's all we did from the first week in to the last week of class. They all ranged from us picking what we wrote about, to being assigned different topics. Also over the summer i took a communications class and that was even way more different than any writing class I've been in. That class consisted of presenting our research in speech form. Also, i think that taking notes for other classes helps in becoming a better writer. It allows you to write and that helps with learning and it teaches people new words in order to help with writing. Besides writings i do in school i do plenty of writing out side of school. I am a waitress and that also involves a decent amount of writing. I am constantly writing down orders and if I'm not the waitress for the night, then i am on the register and people have what we call "points" and they can use that on food, so i write down their names.
I am a big person when it comes to my social life. I love being around people, hanging out with my friends and relaxing with my family. But now a days the only way people get a hold of people is through text messaging. Even though text messaging is sent in today's "lingo", it is still a form of writing.
The biggest audience I've written for has always just been my past and present teachers. Usually papers are usually a big part of a students grade so the influences that the teachers leave on me as a student leave me in panic. They always make me feel stressed and nervous about how i am going to do. Alot of times i feel a little more relaxed when i read it out loud to my mom or have her view over it for me.
I have few different techniques of how i like to write. Sometimes i like writing in my room and i like to just be left alone. If i do it that way then i like to sit in silence or maybe just have some light music playing on my ipod or on my laptop. But sometimes i like to sit around people or in front of the t.v. Sometimes its distracting, but i like to take my time and just sit and i have found that it keeps me from stressing out about what i am writing about. i like to take my writing at a certain space. i like to take my time with the writing and just write my thoughts down along the way and go back over and rethink my thoughts. I would also prefer writing by using Microsoft word because i like the fact that it has automatic spelling and grammar proofing.
I feel like my writing relates to my personality in many ways. When i write papers i feel like i express how i feel and think about situations and that's exactly how i am in real life. I tell people what i feel. So when people tell me how they feel about my writings i respect that because of the fact that's how i am, i tell it as it is. Foe me the hardest thing about writing papers is the research that comes along with it. it's easy to go on the Internet and find facts, but how do you know that its always legitimate? Not only do i worry about that, but also plagiarizing. I feel like i always do a good job at reading through materials, and rewording things but i still don't think i do a well enough job a not plagiarizing. So from this i would love to be able to become a better research paper writer.
